Merle Edward Hays, 68 resident of Bartlesville, died at 9:32 A.M. on Saturday December 19, 2015 at his residence.

Graveside Services for Mr. Hays will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 4810 S. 100TH East Ave. Suite #101 Tulsa, OK. 74146.

Mr. Hays was born on July 26, 1947 at Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Merle and Josephine (Dittman) Hays. He grew up and received his education in Bartlesville at Osage Hills, Central Junior High and College High School graduating with the Class of 1966. Following High School, he entered the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam Conflict, until his Honorable discharge in 1969. He was married to Joyce Marie Barham at Pawhuska, Oklahoma on August 7th of 1969. They made their home in Bartlesville area all of their married life. He was employed by TRW-Reda Pump as a Machinist for over 35 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed farming, and raising cattle and haying.

Mr. Hays is survived by his wife Joyce Marie Hays of the home, by four sons; Brian Barham of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Merle Hays of Bartlesville, C.J. Hays and wife Carrie of Peru Kansas, and Duke Hays of Bartlesville, a brother Clyde Dittman of Wann, Oklahoma, two sisters Shirley Shambles of Bartlesville, and Mary O'Dell of Oglesby, Oklahoma, nine grandchildren; Nicole Barham, Kaitlin Barham, Joseph Barham, Davis Austin Hays, Mataya Fugate, Quinton Fugate, Natosha Hays, Emmylou Hays, and Victoria Fugate, one great grandchild; Gunner Liston.

He was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Josephine Hays, and one brother Herb Hays.

Full Military Honors will be presented at the Gravesite by the Military Honor Detail of the James H. Teel American Legion, Post #105 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
