After a long and fulfilling life, Yolanda Hill, age 95, passed away on July 29 in Tulsa after a brief illness. Yolanda was born on February 6, 1930 in Peekskill, New York to Petrina and Pasquale Scalzo. She attended Peekskill High School and with her beautiful voice, was very active in the school choir and the drama club, appearing in many of the school's drama productions. She also worked at a local furniture store during high school as a bookkeeper until she graduated in 1948. She then attended Business College to gain additional skills she utilized throughout her life.

Yolanda met and married Harold Eugene Hill in Okinawa, Japan while working overseas as part of the Civilian Corps. Upon their return to the U.S, they made their new home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Above all, Yolanda was a loving and devoted mother to her six children. She deeply treasured her role as "Nanni" to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating countless cherished memories across generations. She also loved her role as House Mom for many young men at Sigma Chi fraternity at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater for several years.
Yolanda will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, strength, compassion, faith and genuine care and concern for everyone she met. She had a passion for helping children learn to read through her involvement with the Children's Literacy Program and also spent countless hours volunteering with other groups such as Girl Scouts, Birthright, and the Musical Research Society while living in Bartlesville. After moving to Grove, Oklahoma in the early 90's, she also spent a lot of time working as a volunteer tour guide at Harbor Village and working as a Cherry Red while volunteering as part of the Integris Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary. She was also very active as a Phi Mu sorority member and advisor at Oklahoma State University and as part of the Bartlesville Garden Club, cultivating her love of flowers.
Yolanda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Petrina and Pasquale Scalzo, sisters Isabella Fotino, Genevieve Sherwood, Elaine Middleton, Rita Puhala, brother John Scalzo, son-in-law Dale Childers, and granddaughter, Sadie Hill.
She is survived by her son Kevin (Lisa), daughters Debbie Haase, Marcia Childers, Cindy Hill, Kristi Williams, Patty Hill, 18 grandchildren Chris, Courtney, Chance, Stephanie, Derek (Billie), Matt (Jamie), Cory (Krystal), Shane (Angie), Skylar, Gracie, Jake, Dylan, Ryan, Illiaya (Ashley), Bianka (Izzy), Parker (Summer), Ethan, Kaitlyn, and 9 great-grandchildren Christopher, Christian, Andra, Kaena, Ares, Amethyst, Sadie, Fiona, and Amiaya.
Visitation will be held at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville from 9:00-5:00 on August 6th, along with a Rosary and evening visitation from 6:00-7:00. Funeral mass will be celebrated on August 7th at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, also in Bartlesville. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's in Yolanda's memory.
