James Ross “Jimmy” Brown, 79, of Copan, died Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 10, at New Life Wesleyan Church in Copan with Jerald Freeman officiating. Pallbearers are Billy Phillips, Brian Inman, Vernon Williams, Rocky Banks, Rick Yocham and Randy Robinson. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Brown, Ace Bowman, Donnie White, Raymond White, Damond White, Ferd Good, Gib Good and Smokey Hand.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Jimmy was born January 14, 1939, in Wann, to Raymond Rex and Lou Ella (Ball) Brown. He graduated from Copan High School. James married Jackie (Hand) on September 17, 1962. He served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. James was a horse trainer and rodeo cowboy. He trained horses and cowboyed in Dewey, OK, Folsum, LA., the Mullendore Ranch, and Waterloo, NE. Jimmy was a Judge and life member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association. Jimmy was also a firefighter and member of IAFF 200, having served with the Bartlesville Fire Department, retiring after 25 years of service. Jimmy continued to train horses and team rope after retirement. He later married Randy (Edwards) December 1998 and resided at their family home in Copan, OK enjoying family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Louella, wife Jackie, wife Randy, and an infant son Shane.

Survivors include his sons, Travis and Shawn; stepdaughters Nancy and Lonna Jean; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jean Bowman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Smokey and Billie Sue Hand.
