Delores Madrene Austin, 85, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Monday, December 9, 2019.

Delores was born November 30, 1934 to parents Elbert Kester and Ruby (Sykes) Polaski in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She worked for various drug stores including Pioneer Drug, Baldwin Drug and Kenmel Drug during her teenage years. As she grew older, she worked as a waitress for Red Rooster Café then at Phillips in the executive dining room and also as a hostess in the Phillips Cafeteria until 1961. She then got ill with crippling rheumatoid arthritis and wasn’t able to work again. Delores married Thomas Clarence Austin on June 8, 1968, they later divorced in 1971. She had one son Thomas Clarence Austin and also raised a great nephew as her own son, Jeremy Madison.

She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Polaski; father Albert “Ab” Kester; sister Sharlene Lowe; sister Joyce Blevins and brother Allen “Jum” Kester.

Delores is survived by her son, Thomas Austin; nephew/son Jeremy Madison; sisters Virginia Thomason and Nancy Strickbine; brothers Jess Kester and Jeff Kester and grandsons Kevin Austin and Seth Austin.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 12, 2019 from 9am to 8pm.

Graveside services will be Friday, December 13, 2019 at 3pm at Memorial Park Cemetery.
