Our beloved husband, Dad, and Grandad passed away Monday, March 19, 2018, at The Journey Home, at age 78.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 AM at New Harmony Baptist Church, with Pastor Lonnie Hoelscher officiating.

Interment will be at Matoaka Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Stumpff Funeral Home. Family will be present to greet you from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Gerald was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on October 31, 1939. He attended school at Sequoyah Boarding School and Sand Springs, then Phillips Christian University and University of Tulsa. After meeting Wauhilleau at Oral Roberts Ministry, they married six months later. That was 57 years ago!
Gerald retired from Southwest Airlines after 25 years of service. He loved sports and debating politics. He was in the Navy from 1964 to 1969, serving on the U.S.S. Saratoga.
He is a citizen of the Muscogee Creek Nation and also of Cherokee descent. He was a member of Gourd Dance Society and emceed pow-wows across the state.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Wauhilleau, their daughter, Ahniwake Rose, Executive Director of the National Indian Education Association, and their son, Yahola Webb, a Tulsa Firefighter. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Bryce, Braden, Chenoa, Gentry, Waleah, Hadley, Whitley, and Tahna, and one great-grandchild Brynlee. Other dear family members are daughter-in-law Shannon, mother-in-law Lucille Carter, cousin Jimmy Spencer, brother-in-law Bo Carter, Nathan Carter, Matt Carter, and his best friend and sister-in-law Luschanya Nichols.

His mother Frances and brother Loren preceded him in death.

Gerald is known for his sense of humor and silly jokes only he understands. He is frequently referred to as a “Gentle Giant.”

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Journey Home, 900 NE Washington Blvd Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
