Dale Pitman, 90, longtime resident of Dewey, died at 6:35 P.M. on Wednesday September 18m 2013 at the Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday September 24, 2013 in the Dewey Cemetery, at Dewey, Oklahoma with Chaplain Mark Bright of the Rivercross Hospice officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery, under the direction of thee Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Full Military honors will be presented at the graveside by the members of the James H. Teel Post #105 of the Bartlesville American Legion.
Mr. Pitman was born on January 5, 1923 at Burden, Kansas to Thomas & Lita Anette (Gailey) Pitman. He grew up and received his education graduating from high school there. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force shortly after graduation from High school, and he served during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he was married to Wilma Inabnit on August 8, 1946 at Dewey, Oklahoma. After their marriage they made their home in Dewey making their home there for over 50 years. Mr. Pitman was employed for a short period of time for Phillips Petroleum Co, and was later self employed as an Electrician, Pitman Electric. Mr. Pitman was an active member of the Town & Country Christian Church, and his hobbies included fishing, of which he had gone to Canada several times with friends for fishing trips, music was also an interest for him as he played the drums in a band, and enjoyed Big Band Music. He was loved by many people, was a laid back quiet man with a big heart, impacting a lot of people's lives. He had been in ill health for the past few years.
Mr. Pitman was preceded in death by his parents Thomas (Tom) and Lita Pitman, and his wife Wilma Pitman in 2005 and by a daughter Lynda Pitman Jones in 2010.
He is survived by a granddaughter Mrs. Susan Kilpatrick, and her husband Victor, of Barnsdall, two grandsons; Darin J. Baughman and Christopher D. Baughman both of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and by a step son Sam Powell of Tennessee, by his two daughters Tammy & Debbie Powell, both of Oklahoma, and by seven great-grandchildren, Josh Baughman, of Rock Port Missouri, Trent Baughman of Bartlesville, Emily Baughman of Barnsdall, and Matthew, Lance, and Jason McCabe, and Levi Deeter, all of Barnsdall Oklahoma, and numerous other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
