(permission granted)

Sandra “Sandy” Yearout, 79, of Dewey, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven Tuesday evening in Bartlesville.

Sandy, as she was known, was born the daughter of Clarence and Lota May (Williams) Austin on November 24, 1939, in Dermott, Arkansas. The family moved to Bartlesville and Sandy attended College High, going on to further her education at the Bartlesville Beauty College. She was a great mom to her two daughters Sherri and Melanie, and she was active in their many interests throughout the years. She also operated The Looking Glass salon and then Sandy’s for many years. She enjoyed her work and the many friendships she developed over the years with her customers.

John Yearout and Sandy were united in marriage on August 30, 1980, and they enjoyed honeymooning in Hawaii. During her younger years Sandy was very active in the local AA community. Later in life she was very involved, serving in the various ministries of the church. Sandy was active in her church and community, and she had a strong faith and love for God.

Sandy enjoyed life thoroughly. She was over 50 when she decided to rodeo in the Senior Pros or Old Timers as it was known in barrel racing. Her favorite horse for racing was Duke, while Patch was her choice for riding around the pasture at home. Sandy cherished her family – she enjoyed keeping and decorating her home, having the grandkids over and making Christmas Candy Pizzas with them. John and Sandy enjoyed nearly 40 years of loving marriage and she will be dearly missed.

Sandy is survived by her husband John of the home; four children, Sherri Wheeler and Craig of Yukon, Melanie Lay and Jim Ware of Bartlesville, Rhonda Yocham and Rick of Bartlesville, and Dana Braden and Bucky of Dewey; eight grandchildren, Wendi Wittrock and Brad, Cassie Sturgeon and Steven, Tyler Dodd and Candice LaRose, Hunter Lay, Mika Hunter and Travis, Rikki Sydebotham and TC, Colt Braden and Jennifer, and Tanner Braden and Jade Eddy; 13 great grandchildren, Ryen, Presley, Jace, Brody, Barrett, Brylie, Madison, Kennedy, Timber, Jentri, Braxton, Lexi and Rian; and very special friend Lisa Porta.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Barbara and Penny.

Sandy’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Walker Brown Chapel, 918-333-7665, 4201 Nowata Road, Bartlesville, on Thursday, February 21, from 6-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Dwayne’s House Foundation, PO BOX 1624, Bartlesville, OK 74005.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, February 22, at the Northpoint Assembly of God in Dewey, with Rev. Eugene Hewitt officiating.
