Wilford George Russell

Wilford George Russell was born in Nowata County to Charles and Martha (Hubbard) Russell on January 15th, 1922. After his education he worked for the Civilian Conservation Camp from 1940-1942 and helped build Osage Hills State Park during this time. From there he went on to work as a truck driver the Chevalley's for over 20 years and then as an employee for the City of Dewey until his retirement in 1987. He married Pernicia (Heape) Russell in 1950 and married Reba (Perry) Russell in 1996. He made his home in Dewey until his death on March 16, 2018 at 96.

Wilford had a love of baseball and he and Reba enjoyed attending their grandchildren's baseball and soccer games. He liked to visit with friends and also enjoyed games of dominoes, cards, and marbles. Wilford had a workshop at his home where he liked to tinker with small engines and building bicycles. He was a wood worker and made friends and family wooden lawn decorations and toys for the grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed country music and old Westerns on television.

He is survived by his wife, Reba of the home , 2 sons, Leon Russell and his wife Becky of Bartlesville, David Russell and his wife Regina of Bartlesville,, one daughter Renda Sheets of Bartlesville, and 2 step daughters, Earnastine Gregg of Paola, Kansas, and Ann Jackson of Copan, Oklahoma, 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded death by his parents, 3 brothers and one sister, one son in law, Leo Sheets, I step daughter, Carol Colbern, and one step son and his wife, Albert Ralston.
