Elvin Alfred Reese, age 78, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, in The Journey Home, Bartlesville.

Elvin Alfred "Hoppy" Reese was born June 16, 1939 in Jefferson Township, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charles "Jack" and Flora (Jones) Reese. He was raised and received his education in the Dewey area. While attending school he participated in many sports. Upon graduation from High School, Hoppy joined the  Army and was stationed in Alaska. After being honorably discharged, Hoppy began his career with National Zinc in Bartlesville.

On November 1, 1976, Hoppy and Zora Shamblin were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Bartlesville until 1977 when they moved to Dewey. They lived in Dewey for a year before moving to Wann, where they lived until 1985, before moving back to Dewey. Hoppy retired from National Zinc in 2001 after 37 years of service. He enjoyed basketball and football. He always wanted to coach for the OU football team. Hoppy rarely missed a Dewey football or basketball game. He loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, and shuffle board with his friends, watching westerns, and dancing with Zora. Most of all he loved his family. He will be greatly missed.

Hoppy is survived by his son, Charles Alex Reese and his wife, Brandy, of Dewey, Oklahoma; brothers Charles D. Reese and Arthur Lee Reese; and a sister, Waynetta Reese; grandchildren, Destiny Reese, Caitlyn Reese, and Hunter Reese.

He was preceded by his parents Charles and Flora Reese; his wife, Zora; an infant brother, William Melton Reese; and a sister, Geneva May Eoff.

For those who wish to give in Hoppy's memory, the family suggests The Journey Home, 900 Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK 74006.

Come and go visitation will be held on Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM-7:00 PM; and on Sunday from 1-5:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
