DAVIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Harold Lloyd Meade left this life May 6, 2017, after a lifetime of kindness and love for his fellow men and women.

Harold Lloyd Meade was born in Loyal, OK, on October 4, 1930, to his father William Wiley Meade and his mother Ruby Elizabeth (Cooper) Meade. He served in the Army during World War II, and in the Air Force during the Korean War in the early ‘50s. He felt it was a great honor to serve his country. He also served as a Washington Co. Deputy Sheriff 1959 -1960 under Sheriff Sherman Boling.

Harold’s occupations and achievements were many. But his greatest achievement was to reach out whenever he saw someone he could help. We, his family and friends, saw Harold as a generous person – a vibrant and giving man. He spent much of his time with small children buying coats, shoes and clothing to keep them warm. We saw a man who mowed a young lady’s lawn while she was incarcerated. We saw a man who played the Dobro guitar in a bluegrass group to entertain at local venues. But most importantly, we saw a Christian man whose faith was pure and who lived his life with the purity he professed. As Harold was in the hospital, we saw the doctors who cared for him as God’s helpers in this life. Now we see Harold given a new, forever life by Jesus, the Great Physician.

Harold is survived by his son Terry of Oklahoma City, OK; his daughter, Karen Sue Meade Lafferty of Oklahoma City: his brother, Murrell Meade of San Diego, CA; his sisters Naomi Littleton of Barnsdall, OK, Ruby Winkler of Bartlesville, OK, and Evelyn Meade of Bartlesville, OK; three grandchildren; great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and mounds of “little ones” who called him Grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Austin, his brothers Leon, William H. and Leroy, and one sister, Marie Foust.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday 12-8 and Thursday 10-8. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 66, Dewey, OK 74029.

Harold’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy 75), Dewey, on Thursday, May 11, from 6-8 pm

Funeral services with Masonic rites will be held at 10 am on Friday, May 12, at the First Baptist Church in Dewey, with Pastor Mark Wright officiating, with help from Rev. Curt Meade. Interment will follow in the Dewey Cemetery with military honors by James H. Teel American Legion Post 105 Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home.

Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with Harold’s family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
