Albert Murguia
July 16, 1934 - December 24, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Albert Murguia on December 24, 2025. He peacefully departed from this world at Ignite Medical Resort.
Born on July 16, 1934 in Dewey. Albert was an Amazing Individual who led a fulfilling life. He was the beloved son of Juan and Mary Murguia. Shortly after graduating from Dewey High School, Albert joined the Army where he served time in Korea with Battery C 69th Field Artillery 25th Division on the 105 mm Artillery. After his service in the Korean War, Albert returned home where he met and began his Sixty-Eight year marriage to the love of his life Betty. Albert began married life working as a maintenance man at Phillips Hotel and Betty as a switchboard operator at South Western Bell Telephone Company. After one year, Albert began his 30 years of service with the Reserve 304th Maintenance Company (Maintenance and Searchlight Unit). Albert also had a 40-year career with Overlees-Woods Lumber Company. Overlees hired Albert as a delivery driver and later promoted him to be a warehouse and delivery foreman. He eventually moved inside as a sales associate. Albert will be remembered as the kind and jovial man you go to too get your window screens fixed.
Albert Murguia shared his life and love with his devoted spouse Betty and was the cherished father to John Murguia and James Murguia and wife Cindy. Albert also leaves behind seven grand-children: Jaime Proo and Husband Alan, Jase Murguia and wife Lindsey, Jared Murguia, Gabriella Murguia, Ashley Catlyn and Husband Derrand, Jesse Murguia and Jay Murguia. Albert's great-grandchildren include: Thunder, Bryleigh and Matilyn Proo, Hayden and Hunter Catlyn and coming in May Andie Lynn. Albert is survived by his sister Virginia (Ginny) Thomison and brother David Murguia and many nieces and nephews. Albert will be missed by many other family members and friends.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Mary Murguia, his son John Murguia and his beloved daughter-in-law (daughter) Sheri Murguia Huff. Albert is also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Savvy, Tony, Manuel and Richard, 5 Sisters: Anita Downey, Jessie Krider, Helen Heim, Rosie Ladd and Teresa Hartley.
In reflection of Albert's life, he will be remembered as My Coach, the man that made me the best darn ball player I could be as well as engrained the skills and heart necessary to help mold me into the best man/person I could be. Albert will also be remembered as every one's favorite Baseball Grandpa and as his grand-children's (and their team's) biggest fan. Albert's presence brought joy to everyone around him. His legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.
Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville. Visitation will be held Tuesday December 30th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and services will be held Wednesday December 31st at 10:00 AM. Graveside Services will be held at the Dewey Cemetary.
