DAVIS FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
DEWEY, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Mary Louise Lucas, 81, lifelong resident of Copan, OK, died Thursday, Jan. 17, at Brookdale Assisted Living Home, Broken Arrow, OK.

Born in 1937 to Earl and Lily Rhynerson, Mary grew up in Copan and graduated from Copan High School in 1956. After graduating High School, Mary attended business college and worked a few years for Reda Pump in Bartlesville. During this time, she married Scott Lucas, who was the love of her life until his death in 1993.

A devoted Christian and a member of the Copan First Baptist Church, Mrs. Lucas, in her younger years, enjoyed helping kids with crafts at Vacation Bible School and she always took pleasure in fellowshipping with her church family.

Mary loved the outdoors. As a young woman, she raised a garden and spent a lot of time outside. In her later years, she enjoyed growing flowers and taking care of her yard. Mary also like baking and making candy. For over forty years, she made large amounts of candy every Christmas season to give to friends and acquaintances of the community. In addition, she had great compassion for those in need and was always willing to do what she could to help the Salvation Army.

Mary will be greatly missed by her friends and family; especially by her two granddaughters, Emily and Claire Criner, who adored her and who brought her great joy.

In addition to her granddaughters, Mrs. Lucas is survived by her son, Tim Lucas, of Bartlesville, and her daughter and son-in-law, Tania and Byron Criner of Haskell, OK.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Dewey Cemetery with Rev. Willard Lyons, former pastor of Copan First Baptist Church, presiding. Following the services, friends are invited to visit with the family at the Copan First Baptist Church fellowship hall. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
