Gloria "Gordy" Y. Hamlin, 84, died at 6:45 A.M. on Tuesday at her home.

Funeral services for "Gordy" will be held at 10 A.M. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McKnight officiating.

Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Gordy was generous with words of wisdom. She was never at a loss of words and always had a way of making you feel exactly what she was saying. There was never a question in her intention. She was pure in her exchanges and simplistic in her love- it was unconditional, unwavering and, at times, undeserved. She would give her opinion without flinching or apology but she never dismissed you for your choice and always welcomed you home when it didn't work out. She may slide a little "I told you so" into the conversation but it was met with a side of Pringles, a bologna and cheese sandwich, smiley-face pancakes or a bowl of chicken & noodles. There is no denying that you saw her entire life in all that she had and all that she did. Her home was filled with pictures and quotes and paintings and books and ALL of the things that made her GORDY! Most importantly, you saw her welcome everyone into her home. She shared her table, her food, her heart and her warmth. She loved loving! You were welcomed by her hearth and warmed by her fire. If you failed to learn how to treat others by watching her, you, my friend, were not watching! She was modest and humble, never judgmental or unforgiving. She spoke of her life with enthusiasm. It was not always easy and she never misled you to believe that it was but she was grateful for it and would tell you so. She would reach across that kitchen table, pat your hand and all the world would be right again. She meant it. All her love she gave in that one touch. She showed us the importance of enjoying the moment, creating experiences, and honoring family & friends. She taught us to laugh, love and "bring'em home and feed'em". Please continue to honor her by loving graciously, living earnestly and forgiving easily.
