STUMPFF FUNERAL HOME
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Donna Leta Purvis Hadden went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2021, at the age of 84 at The Journey Home Hospice in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Donna was born Sept 3, 1936 to Daphne Berkley Purvis and Donald Purvis in Sweetwater, Texas. In August of 1951, Donna married Ted Hadden (deceased in 2020), and their marriage lasted for 68 years. Early in their marriage they moved around to different places where Ted was working, but in 1954 they came to Bartlesville and made this the home where they raised their family.

Donna had an enduring love of music. She loved to play the piano and sing. Donna used to talk about the fun she had singing with her sisters LuJean and Glenda and brother, Jimmy, during her childhood. Throughout Donna’s life her love for the Lord was evident. During her children’s younger years, she created and tested many crafts with them that she used to teach vacation Bible school. She taught and mentored high school girls in a Sunday school class for a number of years at Virginia Ave. Baptist church in the 1960’s. After their 5 children left home, Donna completed her high school diploma by taking the GED exam and went on to add bookkeeping and tax preparation certification at Tri County Tech. She used her new skills to help her husband in his carpentry business. For a number of years, she worked at the Salvation Army store and then used her cooking skills to run the kitchen for the Bell Ringer school for children with special needs. Finally, Donna retired from gainful employment. But she didn't retreat from work: she joined a ministry for nursing homes in Bartlesville leading worship for church services for a number of years.

Donna is survived by her 5 children: Pam (Woller); Carole (Osborn), Allen, Brian and John, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Grandma Donna’s quiet loving presence will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Journey Home.
