Catherine Sue Green
April 17, 1939 - May 26, 2025

Catherine Green, lifelong Bartlesville resident and storyteller, was 86 when she passed away on May 26, 2025. She was the last surviving of 10 siblings and she was a fighter til the end.

Catherine Sue Bishop was born on April 17, 1939, in Bartlesville, OK, to Charles Kenneth and Frieda Alberta (Leach) Bishop. She was born into a big family who loved to bicker but they also loved each other dearly. Catherine was closest to her sister Nancy and they were like two peas in a pod.

Catherine graduated from Col-Hi in 1958 and worked for the Examiner-Enterprise newspaper, doing everything and anything that was needed. From helping run the presses to delivering papers, Catherine did it all.

From a young age, Catherine was extra full of life - she knew everyone and they knew her and looked forward to her tales. And Catherine had plenty to tell. She was gifted with her words, and had a comeback for everything. She was the first woman race car driver at the Dewey Speedway. She also liked going to the casino and cussing out the slot machines for being too tight.

Family was everything to Catherine. She met and fell in love with Willie Lee Green or Bill as he was known. They tied the knot in November of 1959 and celebrated 66 years of marriage together. The couple fought hard like cats and dogs but they loved equally hard, too. For the last 10 years, Catherine had been caring for Bill through his dementia. Together, Bill and Catherine raised three beloved sons and they were further blessed by many grandkids and great grandkids.

In addition to her beloved husband Bill of the home, Catherine is survived by their three sons: Scott (and Kay) Green, John (and Judy) Green, and Jerry (and Kathy) Green. Other survivors include her eight grandchildren: Ryan (and Julie) Green, Dee Ann (and Lewis) Quantie, Tracie (and Trey) Goad, Jenni (and Jeff) Griggs, Cory (and Cassie) Green, Kyler Green, Danyelle Green, and Haley (and Noah) Peaster. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren: Bradley, Kelsie, Kaylee, Rani, Evan, Ryker, Nova, Savannah, and Bristol, and a host of other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8 pm and Thursday from 9am-noon. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 29, at 2pm at the Dewey Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home and Crematory - Walker Brown Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared with the family at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
