Frances C. (Stephens) Barger, 80, lifelong Dewey resident, passed away Thursday in Dewey.

Frances was born the daughter of Robert and Fern (Wassom) Stephens on Nov. 16, 1937, in Dewey. She attended Dewey schools, participating in many activities including cheerleading and graduated with the Class of 1955. John and Frances were joined in marriage on November 27, 1958.

Frances enjoyed working and spent 37 years at Jane Phillips Medical Center working her way up to Human Resources Director. Once retired Frances and John began traveling all over the U.S. and Canada, and following grandkids and kids. She loved her family more than life itself, and her family reciprocated that love. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Frances is survived by her loving husband of 60 years John Barger of the home; three children Terri Barbee and husband Hal of Pawhuska, Bobby Barger and Cassie Sires of Dewey, Kelly Barger and wife Kara of Pawnee; one sister Sharon Kay Allison and husband Cecil of Dewey; two grandchildren John Robert Barger and Katy Lynn Barger; and one nephew Travis Woodson, wife Nikki and sons Wyatt and Tyler.

She is preceded in death by both her parents.

Frances’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Tues., Sept. 25, from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10-8 at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., FL. 17, Chicago IL, 60601 or at alz.org.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wed., Sept. 26, at First Christian Church in Dewey, with Rev. Casey Parham officiating.

Interment will follow at the Dewey Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
