Joseph Edwin Roberts
October 3, 1937 - April 12, 2018

Joseph Edwin Roberts was born October 3, 1937 in Russellville, Arkansas to Joseph Edward and Iva Mae (Edmonson) Roberts. He departed this life on Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 9 days.

Growing up, Joseph attended schools in Tulsa. On July 8, 1954, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Joe and Anna Laura Pleasant were united in marriage. They had been married for over 63 years. The couple lived in Tulsa for some time, finally settling in Locust Grove in 1972.

Joe spent his working career as an ironworker, enjoying his work to the fullest. Known for his work ethic, Joe was always a mastermind in building anything he set out to build. His favorite phrase was, "If man built it, so can I." Joe was a member of Ironworkers Local Union #584. He retired in 1986, having worked over 22 years in the industry.

Joe was a member of the Cornerstone Outreach in Locust Grove. He loved to ride Harley motorcycles. He loved to take care of his cattle and horses. His love for horses was tremendous. Some of his favorites were named Sonny, Goober, Rocket, Bucky and Dan. Because of his love for the western life, in which he would have made an excellent cowboy, Joe had always felt that he was born 100 years too late. He also enjoyed old Western T.V. shows and movies. Joe was a gun enthusiast and was known by all to be a well-rounded individual. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Joseph is survived by: his wife Laura of the home; 3 children: Laurna Jo Tuck and husband Bob of Whitewright, Texas, Jim Roberts and wife Angelia of Mannford, Oklahoma, and DeAnna Custer of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 daughter-in-law: Debra Roberts of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 sister: Janet Cates of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; numerous other relatives, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; 1 brother: Jimmy Roberts; 1 sister: Dorothy Simpson; and 1 son: Don Roberts.

Funeral services were held 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 16, 2018 at Cornerstone Outreach in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Reverend John Kiddy officiated. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
