Memorial Services for William Edward "Bill" Downs, 86, of Skiatook, were held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Tri-County Baptist Church in Skiatook, OK. Bill was born March 17, 1927 in Vera, OK to Thomas A. and Edna (Daniels) Downs. He passed away February 16, 2014 in Skiatook, OK.
Bill enjoyed staying busy; whether it was playing dominoes, poker or pool, working on anything that he could around the farm, or going to many different festivals. He loved being outside and going fishing. During the week, Bill had a routine. He would get up and feed the animals, drink a cup of coffee and read the newspaper. Then, he would meet up with the guys at the donut shop, run his "errands", go sit at Earnie's Garage or go to Uncle Cliff's for a bit. After that, Bill would go sit at Wal-Mart and drink coffee, and go back home where Grandma would have his supper ready. On Saturday, he would fit in the cattle sales and auctions. On Sunday, Bill would go to church and spend the day with Grandma. He constantly stayed busy.
He is survived by his wife, Mae Downs; children, Cliff Downs and wife Pam, Vicki Phillips and husband Thurman, Allen Downs and wife Laura, and Doug Downs; step-children, Elana Ethridge, Willie Ethridge, and Chris Ethridge; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Edna Downs; 13 brothers and sisters; and one granddaughter.
