BARTLESVILLE EXAMINER-ENTERPRISE
BARTLESVILLE, WASHINGTON CO, OK
(permission granted)

Mrs. Jan L. Hopkins (née Henderson), of Copan, OK joined the Father on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the age of 81.

Jan was born to parents Vinson and Essie Henderson on January 21, 1936 in Pampa, TX. She grew up as the second youngest of nine and attended Drumright High School.
In spring of 1953, she went on a double date with a friend where she met, Roy Hopkins. This date would change the course of her life; as the next evening Roy and his buddy switched dates. Roy arrived to pick Jan up and without hesitation she jumped in the car like she was expecting him. They married on August 6th, 1954, and had two children.
In 1970, she went to the Bartlesville Beautician School and obtained her beauty license that same year. She worked in several salons around Bartlesville and Dewey until 1976 when she and Roy built what would become their family home in Copan, OK. With their new home built Jan opened her own salon, Jan's Country Curl, and did hair there until her retirement in 1995. Following her retirement, she continued to do hair for close family and church members for many years.

Jan is survived by her husband, Roy; her sons, Kyle and Brett; her siblings, Vinson jr, Helen, and Annette; three grandchildren Amanda, Kayla, and Erin; and one great-grandchild, Connor.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Madelyn, Virginia, Bernice, Geraldine, Marjorie; and her parents, Vinson and Essie.

A memorial service will be held at the Dewey Church of Christ on April 21st at 11 AM.

The cremation will take place at a later date, and her ashes will be interred at Floral Haven Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. The family is grateful for the condolences.
