Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the Leonard & Marker Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Duck Creek Cemetery officiated by Pastor Leon Barnhart.
Ruby Lea Alston was born on August 2, 1930 in Mounds, Oklahoma to Roy Lee & Mildred D. (Grimes) Delcoure. She passed from this life on October 20, 2008 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 2 months & 18 days. Ruby had lived in this area virtually all of her life. She had worked several years as a cook for the Trojan Drive-In but will also be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the First Grace Church in Glenpool and was also very active in the Mounds Senior Citizens Center. She loved to crochet, quilt and work in her yard. She married Billy Jack Alston on January 14, 1951 and after more than 33 years together, he preceded her in death on August 29, 1984. She was also preceded by 1 grandson; Billy Joe Ickes. She is survived by 3 daughters; Donna Vineyard of Kiefer, Peggy Ickes of Knoxville, TN & Patty Hankins of Sapulpa, 4 grandchildren; Scott Vineyard of Glenpool, Jackie Daley of Knoxville, Duane Hankins & Katrina Hankin both of Sapulpa, 8 great-grandchildren; Peyton, Justin, Abbi, Kamden, Landon, Skyler, Ivan & Brooklyn and several other relatives and friends. Eulogy was offered by Jackie Daley. Casket bearers were Rick Vineyard, David Ickes, Rick Hankins, Scott Vineyard, Duane Hankins & Kris Daley. Honorary bearers were Mike Shadowens & Fred Delcour.
