Funeral Rosary Service for Leo Brandt will be 7 p.m., Sunday, December 15, 2019, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Bala Sagili Jesudas as celebrant. Funeral Mass will be 2 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Inurnment will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2019, at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Leo Stephen Brandt, son of the late Leo Peter and Katie Belle (Davis) Brandt, was born October 19, 1924, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and passed away November 28, 2019, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 9 days.

Leo graduated from Jenks High School. He then attended Connors State College and obtained his degrees in animal science from Oklahoma A&M (OSU) in Stillwater. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WW II. On September 18, 1948, he was united in marriage to Josephine Elizabeth Swinney in Tulsa.

Leo started the FFA high school education programs in both Capron and Burlington. In 1952, Northwestern State College approached Leo to start its agriculture department at Northwestern. He retired from NWOSU in 1986. After retirement, he taught at Pratt Community College, sold supplies for Alva Vet Supply, and worked as a livestock inspector for Alva State Bank until eventually retiring at age 90.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and Retired Teachers Assn. He enjoyed taking care of his cattle, working jigsaw puzzles, and analyzing weather patterns.

Besides his parents, Leo was preceded in death by his wife, Jo; three brothers: Joe, Jim, and Al Brandt; and three sisters, Rosemary Gray, Comel Chang, and Catherine White. He is survived by his brother, Tom Brandt and wife, Mary Belle, of Houston, Texas.

Leo is also survived by three sons: Lee Brandt and wife Sharon (of Alva), Mike Brandt (of Vinita) and Tim Brandt and wife Cynthia (of Broken Arrow); three daughters: Kathleen Marrs and husband Dan (of Tulsa), Barbara Boyles and husband Mike (of Salem, Illinois), and Suzanne Benhardt and husband Russ (of McKinney, Texas); 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen (Enid), or the American Red Cross.
