Karen Sue Jones O' Neill

Karen Sue Jones O' Neill, 73 of Enid, Oklahoma passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at the Greenbriar Village Nursing facility in Enid, Oklahoma.

She was born on October 12, 1952 in Guymon, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy Jones of Goodwell, Oklahoma.

Karen graduated from Goodwell High School in1970 as class Valedictorian. She played softball and basketball.

She attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University and received her bachelor's degree in management from the University of Texas-Arlington

She received her Master's degree from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

She had a successful career in health care management and started a non-profit hospice program in Central Texas.

She became a volunteer in 1974 with the American Red Cross at Irwin Army Hospital in Fort Riley, Kansas. She hung up her American Red Cross vest after 45 years of intermittent volunteer service. During this time she was awarded a commendation from then President Barack Obama.

Karen also loved to watch the OKC Thunder play basketball and attended several games with her sisters. She said she wanted to see them win at least one Championship and they did not disappoint. She loved music, especially Fleetwood Mac, and playing cards and Bingo

Karen is survived by 3 sisters: Judy Arnold, Kingsville, Texas, Barbara Cunningham, Alva, Oklahoma and Mary Anne Burdo, Guymon, Oklahoma, and one brother Mike Jones of Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

She had 2 sons, Jeffrey and Stephen Walters.

Her husband, John O'Neill preceded her in death. Her parents Lloyd and Dorothy Jones preceded her in death, as well as 2 sisters, Kathy Jones Nicks and Diane Jones May.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon, Oklahoma at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Goodwell cemetery in Goodwell, Oklahoma.
