Interment will be at the Marlow Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 5-7pm at Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

Mr. Woodburn passed from this life to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Lawton.

Donovan, fondly referred to as "Donnie" or "Woody" was born October 29, 1938 to Arthur Truman and Pansy Beatrice Woodburn in his family's home in the quaint little town of Grand Rapids, Ohio, near the Maumee River in Wood County.

Donovan's family, which also included two brothers, Dennis and Milan, and two sisters, Joyce and Ellen, kept busy with livestock, chores and family fun mixed in. Donovan was always clowning around, even while minding the chores, to get laughter from his siblings, often by squirting the cats in the barn while milking the cows.

He loved to dress up on Friday and Saturday nights to go to the movies, often enlisting the employment of his sister Joyce to polish his shoes and press his clothes to make his best impression. In an effort to maintain his stylish appearance throughout high school, he was known to change shirts as often as three times a day. His mother soon made the wise decision that he should iron his own shirts.

He would often reminisce about his favorite dog, "Poochie". His brother Milan won the grand prize, "Poochie", at a ring-toss game at the county fair. Donnie and his sister Joyce both wanted Poochie to be their dog, but since Donnie had taught the little dog tricks it was decided he should be the rightful owner. He and Poochie would trudge through the neighborhood daily to deliver the newspaper, despite the weather.

He enjoyed recalling many family outings to Cedar Point, MI which is still to this day a family fun amusement park. He and his family traveled nearly every year to Florida at Christmas to visit relatives.

Donovan married Nancy Mastzer in November 1956 and they began their own family. They were blessed with two sons, Donovan Jr "Donnie" and David and their daughter, Cheryl.

Mr. Woodburn joined the United States Army at the Bowling Green, Ohio enlistment site. He served his country for three separate tours in Vietnam and was also stationed for a short time in Germany. He was a decorated marksman earning many medals, badges and commendations. His duty assignments included E Btry Field Artillery Training Command, HHB. 212 Group. Forscom, CO B 3/378th Reg 95th Division, CH 47 Helicopter repair man, and legal clerk 71Delta 20 USAAGS. Upon his retirement he served as a security guard at the Veteran's Hospital in Oklahoma City, prior to moving to Lawton.

He loved Lawton as his home where he met and married Frances Medcalf, who blessed him with the addition of her children, Chris and Larry, to their family. She passed away in 2002.

He was an entrepreneur who had many different ventures, therefore meeting and befriending many. To meet him was to become his friend, as he was ever smiling, ever helping along the way.

He owned a car lot for a number of years and would enable those who needed special financing to be able to afford transportation for their families. He also liked to get in on various other business opportunities and always found the adventure a sport.

He loved to meet with his family and friends at his favorite dining spots: Bill's Catfish in Waurika and Underwood's, Charley's and Furr's in Lawton, but his very favorite was always Salas Mexican Restaurant.

He loved to spoil his grandchildren by driving them around in his limousine and cruising Wayne's. He always had a ready supply of packages of peanut butter crackers and in later years, a portable car mini fridge full of Pepsi and bottled water. He was very proud of his family, who accused him of cheating in the game of Battleship, who laughed at his constant array of jokes accompanied by him rolling his eyes and his famous smirk. Many funny stories took place here in Lawton because of his sense of humor. One of which included his secrecy of his sons letting loose of a goat in the Cache Road McDonald's in an effort to clear out the many patrons ahead of the boys in the ordering line.

His loved ones who went to be with the Lord before him includes: his parents; his brother, Milan; his sister Ellen; and his son, David.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, kindness and appreciation of his many blessings to his surviving family, which includes his beloved children: Donnie Woodburn and wife Sherie of Duncan, Cheryl Brunner of Oklahoma City, Chris Medcalf and wife Sheila of Temple and Larry Medcalf of Duncan. He also loved and cherished his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Joyce Dungan and husband Ellis of North Carolina and his brother Dennis Woodburn and wife Linda of Ohio, and a host of extended family members and friends.
