Edith "Lois" [Copeland] Sorrels

Funeral services for Edith "Lois" [Copeland] Sorrels, 81, of Tuttle were held Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, 10:30 a.m. at Airport Assembly of God in Oklahoma City, with Rev. Kenneth Stafford officiating and Rev. Ladonna Grissom, eulogy. Committal services were Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. at the Marlow Cemetery, Marlow, OK, under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, OK. Pallbearers were Larry Britton, Robert Rumbaugh, Dustin Sorrels, Jim Rumbaugh, and Ed Chavis.

Edith Sorrels was born November 5, 1923, in Cotton County, OK, to Joseph Watson Copeland and Bernettia [South] Copeland, and died Friday, December 17, 2004, in Tuttle, OK.

Lois attended school in Temple, OK.

She married Donald Edward Sorrels, Sr. on May 1, 1981, in Marlow, OK.

Edith had lived in Oklahoma City and Duncan before moving to Tuttle in 1989. She retired from T.G. & Y. at North May and Brittain Road in OKC in the receiving department as a processor after 20 years of service.

Edith enjoyed cake decorating, yard work, rock collecting and decorating for Christmas. She like playing the guitar and singing gospel songs.

Edith was a very active member of the Airport Assembly of God Church for 42 years, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Choir Director and assistant Sunday School Secretary. She loved spending time with her family and church family.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Watson Copeland and Bernettia [South] Copeland; son, Terry Vowell; four sisters: Vera Copeland, Tinia Lou Copeland, Nina Lou Copeland, Juanita Kiddy; six brothers: Carroll Copeland, Joseph W. Copeland, Jr., Oral Copeland, Oliver Copeland, Haskell Copeland, Mancel Copeland; grandson, Craig Taylor; granddaughter, Jonna M. Sparks.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Edward Sorrels, Sr., of the home; three sons: Donald Sorrels, Jr. and wife Brenda, of Marlow, OK, Alvin Sorrels and wife Sondra, of Sugarland, TX, Richard Sorrels and wife Billie, of Marlow, OK; three daughters: Loretta Chavis and husband Ed, of Burkburnett, TX, Janet Rumbaugh and husband Jim, of Tuttle, OK, Nancy Sparks and husband Roger, of Marlow, OK; two brothers: Jerry Copeland and wife Alexia, of Ardmore, OK, Kenneth Copeland and wife Minnie, of Durant, OK, two sisters: Era Vantine, of Marlow, OK, Lavonna Rush and husband Charlie, of Elmore City, OK. She has 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
