Virginia Dale "Jean" [Southern] Merideth

Marlow: Virginia "Jean" Dale Merideth, 79, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her home in Marlow.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Marlow, with Rev. David Standifer officiating. Burial will be in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow.

Jean was born Saturday, November 12, 1932 in Foster to Homer and Loy (Ross) Southern. Jean lived most of her married life in the Bailey Community and in Marlow for the past 13 years. She graduated from Doyle High School in 1950 and furthered her education by graduating from LPN school at Red River Vo-Tech in 1978. She married Wayne Merideth on January 3, 1953 in Lawton. He preceded her in death on January 3, 2010. Jean worked at the Talley-Walker Hospital and Gregston Nursing Home for 24 years. She loved her work as a nurse, being a nanny and especially, being a stay-at-home mom. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and shopping. Jean taught Sunday school and was a member of the Bailey Community Church

Survivors include, daughters, Risa Glover and husband Danny and Lisa Merideth, both of Marlow; grandson, Aaron Glover and wife Kristen of Marlow; granddaughter, Ashley Glover-Herrera and husband Donnie of McKinney, TX; great-grandsons, Kaleb Glover and Jack Glover both of Marlow; brother, Joe Southern and wife Pauline of Foster; sisters, Wanda Ramsey and husband Bill of Lindsay and Betty Davis of Foster; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

Jean was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Peggy Carter, brother, James Southern, grandparents, Logan and Berthie Ross and aunt, Whit Ince.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Davis, James Carter, Tony Carter, Jody Southern, Ron Toby, Roger Carter.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephens County Humane Society.
