Mickey Earl Bullard

Mickey Earl Bullard lost his long fought battle for life on Monday, June 2, 2003.

His passing leaves behind many cherished friends and relatives who will always miss his humor, laughter and special friendship. Even on his last day on earth, he was joking and making doctors, nurses and friends laugh with his special sense of humor. Mickey cherished his friends and held them dear to his heart forever.

Service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church in Edmond. Graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond.

Mickey Earl was born Dec. 4, 1938, to Marvin and Opal Bullard. He was married to Jo Ann Buckholts Bullard for 44 years. He graduated from Oklahoma State University, Okmulgee campus in 1961.

He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 2002 after working there for 40 years and four months.

He held such a special love for his co-workers, respecting each one and loving their special qualities and personalities. They returned this love in abundance during his illness with their cards, calls, visits and prayers.

Mickey was an avid University of Oklahoma fan and was most proud that he had attended football games at home for 38 years and had not missed a Texas game in all those years.

Lake Texoma and his cabin there, with all the merriment and joy with friends, were most dear to him. He was the life of the party and the place overflowed with fun, laughter and joy at all hours of the day and night. How special this was for him.

He is survived by wife; and his daughter, Katrina and her husband, Leighton Kirkpatrick. She was the absolute joy of his life and they were best buddies teaming up against Mom.

Also his sister, Joyce McEntire and her husband, Victor, of Comanche; his mother-in-law, Minnie Buckholts of Duncan; brother-in-law, E.J. Buckholts II and his wife, Carole, of Duncan; sisters-in-law, Jenann Allen and her husband, Charlie, of Gainesville, Texas, and George Ann Parker and Wayne, of Houston; plus many nieces and nephews. They were his closest friends and merrymakers all his life.

He was blessed by the care and love he received from Dr. Raymond Smith at Mercy during his long illness. We express our love and gratitude to Dr. Smith, Peter Gray, Jody, Florence, Teresa, Marietta, Dr. Vickie Canfield, and Georgetta. Each day was precious and we are thankful for every hour we had with him.
