Margaret Lea Vann, daughter of Dexter Rider and Jennie Pettit Canoe, was born on July 31, 1939 in Bunch, Oklahoma and went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 17 days.
Margaret loved her family and friends. Her favorite times were sitting at the lake, fishing, visiting with family and playing with her grandbabies. She was member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Margaret enjoyed going to the church services and singings while she was able. She was a warm and giving person, who touched many lives while with us.
Those that preceded her in death are her husband: Jack Vann, Jr., an infant child, her parents: Dexter Rider, Jennie Pettit Canoe and step father: Adam Canoe, maternal grandparents: Mary and John Pettit, brother: Daniel Canoe, sister: Leona Snell, 4 infant grandchildren: Melinda, Anthony, Janessa and Caleb Vann.
The loving family she left behind to mourn her passing are her children: Farris and wife Sandra, Dexter and wife Lisa, David and wife Jerrie, Robbie Vann, Rex Vann, Sherman Vann (who she raised as a son) and wife Tami, all of Stilwell, Frankie and wife Carolyn of Tahlequah, 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters: Caroline Littledeer, Katie Mink and husband Bryan, Mary Scott and husband Joe, Jennie Taylor and husband Dexter, brothers: John Canoe, Leroy Canoe and wife Mary, all of Stilwell. She is also survived by a host of other relatives, friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held at 10 am on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Charley Shell and Bro. Salaw Hummingbird officiating. Interment followed at Rocky Point Cemetery.
