Ben Bush Smith, the son of Rufus Smith and Leona Marie (Bush) Smith, was born March 16, 1963, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He passed from this life on September 25, 2015, at his home in Stilwell surrounded by a loving family, at the age of 52.

Ben was a lifelong resident of Adair County, graduating from Cave Springs High School. He worked at Baldor Electric for 18 years and most recently worked for AERT recycling as a forklift driver.

Ben was considered a good mechanic and he enjoyed riding horses, fishing, hunting, cooking, riding motorcycles, playing horse shoes and softball and doing anything that brought his family together. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.
 

Those preceding him in death include, his parents, Rufus and Leona (Bush) Smith, siblings, Dewayne Smith, Sam Smith, Norma Dearman, Brian Mink and three infant siblings.


He leaves behind a loving family which includes, his children, Mose Smith and wife, Lori, Amos Smith and wife, Felicia, Beth Griffin and companion, Isaac Merchant, Alisha Smith, all of Stilwell, grandchildren, WhiteEagle Smith, AyLa Smith, Jasper Smith, Kenyon Smith and James Smith; siblings, Tommy Smith, Edward Smith, Dallas Smith, Loretta Sumpter, Sara Fourkiller and husband, Anthony, all of Stilwell, Kelly Goodrich and husband, Jake, of Tahlequah.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Red Bird Cemetery in Vian.

Burial is under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
