Funeral services for Vernon Lee Girty, 57, of McLoud, OK, formerly of Webbers Falls will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday November 4, 2008 at the First Assembly of God Church in Webbers Falls with Reverend Wendell Cox and Reverend Pat Alexander officiating.

Pallbearers will be Katherine Disney, Sharla Carlisle, Donnie Charlton, Brandon “MD” Shadden, Charley Stewart and Darby Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Carter, Colby Carter, Cody Carter and Colton Carter.

Burial will be in Tom Girty Cemetery under the direction of Millsap Funeral Service of Webbers Falls
 
Vernon was born December 23, 1950 at Checotah, the son of Martin and Viola Mae (Clairday)Girty and died Saturday November 1, 2008 at Ardmore, OK.
Vernon attended Neff School near Webbers Falls until the eighth grade and then graduated from Webbers Falls High School and Connors College. He also attended OSU and graduated from Tulsa Welding College. He was a certified welder and a member of Union Local #344 in Oklahoma City.
Vernon married the former Peggy Reece August 29, 2003 in Love County.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister; Uvon Girty, brother; Tom Girty and a nephew; Kelly Girty.
 
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Girty, daughter, Caitlin all of the Shawnee area and son; John of Marietta, one granddaughter, four sisters; Jeanne and Bob Neely of Barling, AR, Yvonne and J. D. Johnson of Braggs, Avonne and Dale Martin of Webbers Falls, Barbara Jean “B.J.” Hamilton of Webbers Falls, nieces and nephews, Shannon and Brian Carter, Debbie and Kevin Delaney, Sherri and Clinton Anderson, Tammye and David Howell, Lauren Gale Martin, Shelby Lynne Martin, mother-in-law, and father-in-law, Roy and Jerri Reece, sisters-in-law, Corliss and Wayne Johnson and Audra and Billy Tate, brothers-in-law, Roy Reece Jr. and Jeff and Elsa Reece.
