Haskell Murphy, Sr. was born September 22, 1943 in Bunch, Oklahoma to Arch and Bessie (Hughes) Murphy and departed this life on July 20, 2016 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 72.

Haskell was a lifelong resident of the Stilwell area and graduated from Cave Springs High School. He worked for Cherokee Nation Roads Department as a roads and right of way specialist.

He loved playing softball and playing guitar with his grandkids. He was known for his exceptional chili and potato salad and his unique sense of humor. Haskell was also an avid OU football fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and he enjoyed nothing better than spending time with his family.

Preceding him in death are, his parents, Arch and Bessie Murphy and two sisters, Bessie Sue Van Bibber and Cecil Marie Rider.

His surviving family includes, his children, Haskell Murphy Jr. and wife, Tamara, of Tahlequah, Kendra Hummingbird and husband, Amos, of Stilwell, Jason Santana and wife, Tasha, of Tahlequah, Christopher Murphy and wife, Trista, of Tahlequah, Rachel Pritchett and husband, Bradley, of Tahlequah; brother, James Murphy, of Stilwell; sister, Margaret Scrapper, of Stilwell; 18 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Larry Joe Scrapper officiating. Interment followed at Flute Springs Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
