Watie “Jug” Vann was born on March 3rd, 1956 to Bill and Katie (Beaver) Vann and departed this life on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Watie was preceded in death by his parents: Bill and Katie Vann, his paternal grandparents: James W. Vann and Lila Hardbarger, his maternal grandparents: Josiah and Linnie Beaver, aunts: Polly Ross, Emma Mink, Polly Vann and Jennie Hothouse, uncles: Arcene Vann, Isaac Vann, Johnson Vann, William Vann and Wilson Vann, niece: Priscilla “Sheila” Oosahwe and great niece: Tenisha Vann.
Watie is survived by his wife: Nila of the home, children: Colby Mink (Celesta) and Jaylena Mink of Stilwell,OK, Watie II (Robin) of Sterling, KS, Kaleb Vann and Bill Vann of the home, grandchildren: Colby Mink II, Alena and James Vann, brothers: Johnny Vann of Bunch, OK, Jimmy Vann (Barcie) and Martin Vann of Sallisaw, OK, Jody Vann and Kaneilius Vann (Deina), both of Bunch, sisters: Susie Cherry (Jim) of Sallisaw, Lucy Catcher (John), Amy Hooper (Michael), all of Bunch, numerous nieces, nephews, loved ones and a host of friends.
Watie’s greatest love in his life was his family. He loved to watch his children play all of the sports that they were involved in or simply sit around the garage with his brothers and sisters and laugh all day. He also loved to hunt, fish, pitch horseshoes or play softball at Greasy all day long. Watie was a member of the Rock Fence Baptist Church. It goes without saying that Watie was one of the biggest OU Sooner Fans in the state.
Watie was dearly loved and will be missed terribly.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 5 2013 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Blue Hothouse officiating. Interment followed at Belfonte Cemetery, Nicut, Oklahoma.
