SEMINOLE, Okla. —

Former Seminole resident Patricia Vanessa Washington, 53, passed from this life Oct. 10, 2008, at O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born June 15, 1955, in Seminole to parents Doretha Vivian (Wright) Winrow and Roy Winrow, Sr.
Vanessa attended Pleasant Grove Elementary and High School.
Vanessa married Bobby Washington August 3, 1984, in Las Vegas, Nevada he survives her of the home.
Mrs. Washington had earned her Bachelors and Masters degree from East Central University in Special Education and had worked for New Lima Schools until her retirement in 2006 after 25 years of service. She had begun her career at Nobletown Elementary School before working at Boley State School for Boys and Weleetka Public Schools. Vanessa was in pursuit of earning her Christian Counseling Degree at Oklahoma Baptist University when she became ill. Even after she became ill Vanessa continued to serve as a substitute teacher at Tecumseh Public Schools. She celebrated her last birthday by treating her first grade class to McDonalds. She was an active member of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee, where she served the Lord in many capacities from being active in the Choir to serving on the Usher Board. Those who knew our precious “Nessa” knows she loved the Lord and was thanking Him for His blessings until the very end.
Vanessa is preceded in death by one son, Terry DeShawn Winrow; mother, Doretha Winrow; Two brothers, Edward Foxx and Stanley Edmond.
Other survivors include her father, Roy Winrow, Sr. of Seminole; one son, Lance Antuan Washington of Tecumseh; one daughter, Tanisha Atoinetta Washington of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and his wife Johnnie Mae Foxx, Nathaniel Winrow, Roy Winrow, II., all of Seminole, Randy and his wife Teresa Winrow and Clay and his wife Donna Talton all of Shawnee; five sisters, Ollie Webb of Hesperia, Calif., Rozetta “Dee” Winrow of Shawnee, Loretta Young of Long Beach, Calif., Ginger Winrow of Oklahoma City and her “Twinkie”, Carolyn Winrow of Shawnee.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday at the First Baptist Church, 420 Reid Street, Seminole, with the Rev. Anthony Rhone officiating. Interment will follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka.
Casket Bearers will be, Robert Foxx, Clay Talton, Randy Winrow, Nathaniel Winrow and Roy Winrow, II.
Honorary Bearers will be, Michael Winrow, Roy Winrow III, J.C. Simpson, Curtis Hinex, Joseph Hinex, Jr. and James Simpson.
Services have been entrusted to Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.
