TECUMSEH, Okla. —
Tecumseh resident Verna Lee Deatherage, 76, passed away March 20, 2009 in Shawnee, Okla.


She was born Aug. 31, 1932 in Konawa, Okla. to Joe and Sarah (Mathis) Lee. She was born and raised in the Konawa and Vamoosa area. In 1968 she moved to Tecumseh, where she has lived ever since. On June 7, 1968 she married John Deatherage in Konawa.


Verna was a homemaker. She loved to dance, fish, and camp. She enjoyed her grandkids activities and spending time with her family.


She was preceded in death by her parents; and her first husband, James LeRoy Wheeler.
Survivors include husband, John Deatherage of the home; three daughters and sons-in-Law, JoAnn and Ted Lucas of Tecumseh, Teresa and Jimmy Adams of Konawa, and Geneva and Burl Davis of Macomb; six grandchildren and their spouses, Tanya and Ritch Gunter, Norma and Chip Melton, Jimmie and Robert Fluitt, Tina and Shawn O'Dell, Jay and Amy Bray, and Shaina Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at Vamoosa Cemetery with Pastor Bill Chesser of Corner Stone Tabernacle officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh. To share memories, or to sign the guest book on-line, go to www.cooperfuneral.com.
