Janet Ann Moss
March 19, 1953 - June 7, 2025
A graveside service to celebrate and remember the life of Janet Ann Moss will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Wards Grove Cemetery. Janet passed away at her home in Chelsea on Saturday, June 7, 2025. She was 72 years old.
Born in Oklahoma City, OK on March 19, 1953. Janet's parents were William E. Flanders Jr. and Lois Louise "Dolly" (West) Flanders. Janet was raised and educated in the Vinita area and graduated from Vinita High School. She continued her education at Wright Business College where she received her associate's degree. On May 5, 1988, in Miami, OK, Janet married the love of her life William "Bill" Moss. The couple made Chelsea their home for the rest of their lives. Janet was the proud parent of 3 children, Cheri, Scott, and Jackie. She provided for her family working as the managing editor of the Vinita Dailey Journal.
A lady that lived her life doing things her way. Janet was referred to by her family as very sarcastic, sassy, and that it was her horns that kept her halo in place. She had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with whomever she was with. Before her health began to fail, Janet was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed the outdoors and tending to her flower gardens as well as her vegetable garden. Janet even canned the surplus vegetables that were the result of her green thumb. According to her family she enjoyed listening to; "not watching", old westerns. She loved her goats and her day started by milking some of them and others she would sell. Janet knew her way around horses. According to her family her favorite horse was Skeeter and Janet made sure if there was a parade around that her and Skeeter were in it. It was during those parades that, according to her family, Janet loved to make Skeeter sidestep and then was quick to tell everyone he was drunk. Once again demonstrating her uncanny sense of humor.
A lady that has left a legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. Janet is survived by her children, Cheri Lewis, Christopher "Scott" Hicks, and Jackie Lear and husband Jeremy, grandchildren, Matt Flanders and wife Taylor, Elizabeth Flanders, Natalee Hicks, Emily Hicks, and Jaxon Lear, great grandchildren, Jayden Goodman and Aubrey Goodman. Janet was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bill Moss.
