Carolyn Sue Reed
September 21, 1944 - August 17, 2026
Services to celebrate and remember the life of Carolyn Sue Reed will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2026, in the Chapel at DeLozier Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Pryor. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-7 with family there to receive visitors from 5-7. Carolyn passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, August 17, 2026. She was 81.
Born in Bushyhead, Oklahoma on September 21, 1944, to D.Q. and Dona O. (Carter) Lemon. Carolyn was raised and educated in Bushyhead before the family moved to Claremore where she graduated from Claremore High School. On April 27, 1984, in Miami, OK, Carolyn married the love of her life Leon Reed. They became a blended family with 4 children, Allan, Traci, Chad, and Tammy. Carolyn helped provide for her family working for Integris Hospital in Pryor until her retirement.
Carolyn had a wide variety of interests and hobbies, but nothing was more important to her than her family. She made sure everybody was taken care of. Anything her children were involved in; Carolyn was there as their biggest fan and supporter. She spent countless hours at county fairs with their 4H Club getting their steers ready to show. It was through that 4H Club that Carolyn had a huge influence on the lives of so many young people. When grandchildren and great grandchildren came along it is, needless to say; "Ma" was there. Didn't matter if it was a free style bull fighting event, baseball game, football game, or a wrestling match, she was there.
Carolyn liked the outdoors. Camping on Grand Lake or Oologah Lake were two of her favorite places. She loved the water as long as she didn't have to get in. Carolyn and Leon always had a huge garden and would spend days canning the fruits of their labor. If they liked you, you might have even gotten some of the pickles, okra, or salsa. Carolyn liked to travel. She and Leon made several trips to Branson and especially when the Christmas Lights were on. Eugene, Oregon to attend the Eugene Pro Rodeo put on by Leon's brother Jerry Reed was something they looked forward to each year. Crafting, sewing, playing on her phone and watching the western channel were all ways Carolyn filled her days. A fact about Carolyn is that if you knew her, or even if you didn't, if she was going out in public for any reason you could bet her hair and nails were done to perfection. No story about Carolyn would be complete unless you mentioned her love of the Lord. Even in her younger years she would help with VBS at church. Her and Leon were faithful in their attendance and support of the Cowboy Gathering Church in Inola.
A lady that carries so many titles; wife, mother, ma, favorite aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and friend. Carolyn has left a huge footprint and legacy that will live on in the lives of her family and friends. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 42 years Leon, children, Allan Greer, Traci Williams, Chad Greer, Tammy Henderson and husband Darrell, grandchildren, Cody Reed and wife Jami, Kynsley Moore and husband Brian, Shay Greer, Sage Elrod, Brooks Bowser, Ashley Phillips, Alexis McDaniels, a quiver full of great grandchildren but Kross, Knox, Kottyn, and Kopper lived just down the road which allowed them to develop a very special bond and relationship, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Carolyn was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, June Lemon, and sister, Loleta DeLozier.
