Burial will follow at Dawes Cemetery in Chelsea. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m., until service time at the church on Friday. Kenny passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. He was 80.
Born in Claremore on October 7, 1941 to John "Oscar" and Jessie I. (Bryant) Prather, Kenny was raised and educated in Foyil and graduated from Foyil High School with the Class of 1959. On October 6, 1961, at the Church of Christ in Chelsea, Kenny married the love of his life, Betty Thomas. Their union was gifted with two children, Robin and Roger. Kenny provided for his family working in the auto industry, selling exclusively Ford Motor parts. Don Thornton Ford in Tulsa is where he spent the majority of his work career.
A man that had a countless number of interest and hobbies, nothing was more important to Kenny than family. He led not only by example but by the instruction he found in God's Word. When all his family could be together it might be said that his smile was the brightest. Kenny had a huge appreciation for music. He enjoyed listening to anything from classical to rock. In his younger days he even played guitar in a combo group called the Thunderbirds. Kenny had the ability to fix most anything, a skill he used not only around his house but at the church he attended as well. He liked cars, especially if they were a Ford product. It might be said he was somewhat of a shade tree mechanic according to his family. Kenny could be found with his head under the hood working on the family cars. When it came to sports there might not be anybody that liked sports like Kenny did. It didn't matter if it were tennis, golf or football; he watched it all. According to his family he was a die-hard Sooner, Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packers fan.
No story about Kenny would be complete unless you mentioned his love of people. He could strike up a conversation with just about anybody. Kenny had a great sense of humor and you knew he loved you if you fell prey to his teasing and cutting up.
A man that has left a legacy that will live on for years to come not only in the lives of his family but his many friends. Kenny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, children, Robin Billings and husband, Rick and Roger Prather and wife, Carla, grandchildren, Ryan Billings, Kaitlin Prather, Lindsey Prather, Madison Prather and Renae Billings, nieces, Susie Maggard and husband, Randy, Sherri Riddle and husband, Royce, Tammye Cox and husband, Billy, best friend, Gerald Walkingstick, and Kenny's beloved cat, Misty. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Prather and his infant brother, Donald Troy Prather, niece, Pam Zincke and nephew, David Prather.
