Betty Jane (Thomas) Prather was born in Chelsea, Oklahoma on March 2, 1943, to Jacob Smith Thomas and Edna Mattie (Boston) Thomas. Betty grew up in Chelsea with her siblings, John Ray Thomas and Margie Mae Hines. She graduated from Chelsea High School with the class of 1961. Before graduating from High School, Betty started dating Kenny Wayne Prather. In the summer before her senior year, Kenny would save every penny to make regular visits to Oklahoma City, where he would visit Betty and her sister Margie. Kenny and Betty married after high school graduation on October 6, 1961, in Chelsea at the Church of Christ.

Shortly after their marriage. Kenny and Betty welcomed their first child, Roger Wayne. Several years later their daughter Robin Renae was born. Betty helped provide for her family working at Cities Service beginning in 1971 as an Accountant Specialist. She worked a number of other places in the following years. Southwestern Bell, Cities Service Oil, Sooner Pipe, AAMCO, Price Waterhouse Cooper, and IBM, eventually retiring from there. Kenny and Betty were also longtime members of the Church of Christ, attending for over 60 years.

Betty was a no-nonsense woman. If she had a thought or opinion, she would always be happy to share it with you. She enjoyed her cats, Little Bit, Lacey, and Misty. Betty liked planting flowers and making chocolate covered pretzels with her grandchildren. Kenny and Betty were reunited in heaven on May 30, 2025. Betty is survived by her children, Roger Prather and wife Carla, as well as their three children, K.T., Lindsey, and Madison, Robin Billings and husband Rick, and their children, Ryan and Renae, long time friends, Mary Ann Linton, John and Pat Busby, and Ivan and Jo Rainbolt.
