Joe Yowell was born March 21, 1950 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Dora Pauline and Tony Frank Yowell. He passed away April 21, 2018 at Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years and 1 month.
 

Joe grew up in the Reydon area hunting, fishing and learning the carpentry trade from his big brother. He graduated from Reydon High School in 1968 and continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. Joe married his love, Dana Gayle Care, on August 12, 1973 and they lived in Liberal, Kansas where Joe was employed in the maintenance department at Ideal Foods for 6 years. During their time in Kansas, they were blessed with their first child, Danel Jolene. In 1979, Joe and Dana decided to move back to Reydon to make their home and be close to family. Shortly after returning, they were blessed with their second child, Nikki Jo. They owned Yowell Grocery for 4 years until selling it in 1982. Joe began his career with Security State Bank in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. His career spanned 36 years where he began as a loan officer and eventually became vice president. Joe also served on the board of directors at he bank. He was a member of the Reydon Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and a director for the Upper Washita Conservation District for 32 years. Joe also served on the Reydon School Board, the White Rose Cemetery Board and was a member of the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. He also loved working with his cattle and playing sports, including basketball, baseball and softball, as well as officiating. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandchildren.
 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Pauline Yowell, a brother, James Roy Robertson, a grandson, Jack Grimmett, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Jack Care and a sister-in-law, Bonita Care.
 

He is survived by his wife, Dana, of the home; 2 daughters, Danel Jolene Grimmett and husband, Sam, of Edmond, OK and Nikki Jo Gourley and husband, Jeremy, of Reydon, OK; 4 grandchildren, Paige Yowell, Ridge Yowell, Willow Grimmett and Coral Grimmett; 4 stepgrandchildren, Seth Gourley, Jeremy Gourley, Serenity Gourley and Preston Gourley; 2 brothers, Tom Scrivner and wife, Wenona, of Reydon, OK, Paul Ray Yowell of Reydon, OK; his sister, Kay Powers and husband, John, of Reydon, OK; special friends, Leo and Barbara Swope, Larry and Deanna Baker and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Jude's Cancer Research for Children, White Rose Cemetery, Reydon Funeral Food Fund, or the Reydon American Legion.
