James Aubrey Waldrop was born February 10, 1880, in Linville, Tennessee.

He departed this life in a hospital at San Antonio, Texas at 3:15 a.m., December 25, 1943 at the age of 63 years, 10 months and 15 days.

He came from Tennessee to Texas in the early days and from there to Beckham county, Oklahoma, 46 years ago.

He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Dee Jones, February 16, 1901.

She preceded him in death on September 11, 1913. To this union five children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

On February 9, 1915 he and Miss Dessie Bromley were united in marriage. Three children were born to this union.

He brought his family to Roger Mills county in 1918 and settled nine miles southeast of Reydon where he resided until his death.

Mr. Waldrop became a member of the Church of Christ in 1925.

He was a loyal neighbor and was always ready to give a helping hand when needed.

He is survived by his wife; three sons; and four daughters as follows, Arthur of Retrop; Lloyd and Guy of Reydon; Mrs. Eula Fosberg of Escondido, California; Mrs. Myron Thorton of Reydon; Mrs. Lueila Nichols of Portales, New Mexico; and Mrs. Oleta Sanders of Springdale, Texas; two brothers, Will of Guymon; and Morris of Brackettville, Texas; nine grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, December 30, 1944 at 1:30 a.m. at the Community building at Reydon, with Rev. Curtis Camp, minister of the Church of Christ, of Elk City, officiating.

Burial was made in the Rankin cemetery {now White Rose cemetery} Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Relatives who attended Mr. Waldrops funeral were Mrs. J. H. Prater of Brownwood, Texas; sister, Mrs. Jim Bormley of Brownwood, Texas; brother; Mrs. Barclay Comerford, niece, and son, Billy of Brownwood, Texas; Mrs. and Mrs. Claudie Waldrop of Elk City; his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Waldrop of Carter; a nephew, Mrs. Hattie Waldrop of Elk City; his brother's wife and children, Mr. and Mrs. I. V Nichols of Portales, New Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Waldrop of Carter, Oklahoma; and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Sanders of Springlake, Texas.
