Rebecca Silas Cox

Rebecca Silas Cox was born in Morris County, Texas November 3, 1877 to Tom and Nannie Silas, and passed on August 8, 1970 in Shattuck, Oklahoma, at the age of 92 years, 10 months and 5 days.

When a young woman, she moved with her parents to Stevens County, Texas where she met and married Rufus Newton Cox in 1897.

In 1898 Newt and Rebecca Cox moved to that part of the Indian Territory which is now Tillman County. They came to Roger Mills County in 1915 where she had since made her home, spending the last four years in the home of her daughter and husband Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Estes.

To this union two children were born both of which survive, one daughter, Mae Cox Estes, Reydon, Oklahoma; and one son Roy Foster Cox of Castlewood, South Dakota.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Patsy Burks, Reydon; Jolene Giles, Inglewood, California; Ted Estes, Amarillo, Texas; Babe Burton, Clytheville, Arkansas; Rose Marie Mixon, Houston, Texas; great grandchildren Bob Michael Keller, Pamela Burks, Sugie Burton, Karen Burton, Kathy Keller, Cindy Mixon and Lori Mixon.

Her husband preceded her in death in September, 1952.

Rebecca became a member of the Methodist Church at an early age.

Committal in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
