Roy Elwin Barker was born January 24, 1928 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Dora Amanda and Earl Joseph Barker. He passed away August 30, 2008 at Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 80 years, 7 months and 6 days.

Roy grew up in the Reydon community where he graduated from high school.

He was the first FFA Junior Master Farmer from Reydon.

He was married to Barbara Bailey after graduation and to this union four children were born.

He entered the United States Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict.

He returned to Roger Mills county and has always made his home in the Reydon community where he was a farmer and rancher.

He was married to Melva Faye Alba at Las Vegas, Nevada on April 3, 1991 and they continued to live in Reydon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Eldyn Dean Barker; one sister, Erma Lea Burns; and one son-in-law, David L. Williams.

He is survived by his wife, Melva of the home; one daughter, Ramona Williams of Tuttle, Oklahoma; two sons, Elwyn Gene Barker of Del City, Oklahoma; Michael Barker and wife, Leah of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Avery and Bailey; one stepdaughter, Shana Turnbull and husband, Phil and her family Josh and Kyle of Oklahoma; on stepson, Rusty Ober and wife, Kim of Baltimore, Oklahoma and family Elie and Tori; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Reydon First Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Ron Henning.

Burial will be at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
