James Riley Barker

James Riley Barker was born April 22, 1884 in Jasper County, Iowa and passed away in Reydon, Wednesday, January 9th, 1952 after a lingering illness at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 17 days.

He was united in marriage to Miss Emma Louella Bunyard on May 1, 1907 at Des Moines, Iowa, and to this union five children were born.

He, with his family came to western Oklahoma in 1908 and settled at Reydon, Oklahoma, where he has made his home since, being one of western Oklahoma's pioneers.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Robbins of Dumas, Texas; Mrs. Mabel Barrett of Reydon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Erma Grayson of Dumas, Texas; two sons, Emery Barker of Dumas, Texas; and Merrill Barker of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Rose Hay of Grinnell, Iowa; three brothers, Charlie Barker of Visalia, California; Obie Barker of Newton, Iowa; Alva Barker of Clermont, Georgia; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends. His wife predceded him in death in 1939 at Reydon, Oklahoma.

The funeral services were held Friday, January 11, 1952 at the Reydon school gym with Rev. J. L. Davis and Rev. Horace Woodward, officiating with interment in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Moore Funeral Home of Reydon in charge of arrangements.
