Robert Truman Baker was born May 1, 1924 in Rankin, Oklahoma to Maggie Hazel and Simpson Robert Baker.

He passed away February 10, 2003 at his home in Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Truman grew up in Reydon, Oklahoma and Richland, Missouri.

After leaving home, he joined the Civil Conservation Corps and remained there for two years.

Truman was an adventurer and traveled the U.S. working at many jobs including logging, managing businesses and even served on a tugboat in San Francisco during World War II. He eventually returned to Reydon in 1984 where he worked for the city, helped many local farmers and ranchers and served on the Water Board.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph Baker.

Services where held Saturday, February 15, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Reydon Community Church, officiated by Alberta Helton.

Burial followed at the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.

Survivors include one daughter, Lucy Tekell and husband, Weston of Arlington, Texas; one son, James Baker and wife, Pat of Garden City, Missouri; one sister, Elsie Saturday of Stillwell, Oklahoma; one brother, Alfred Baker of Las Cruces, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Michael, Kathryn, Deborah, and Amanda Tekell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
