Charles Richard Cogburn was born in Illinois, October 5, 1870, and departed from this life at the Sayre hospital on July 24, 1943 at the age of 72 years, 9 months and 19 days.

When he was five years of age he moved to Texas.

As a young man he was a pioneer of Oklahoma, and made the "run" obtaining a homestead at Weatherford.

He was converted and became a member of the Methodist church in 1902.

On February 3, 1904, he was united in marriage with Dovie Myrtle Hitt, and immediately moved to Roger Mills county, where he made his home four miles southeast of Strong City until the time of his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; his five children, Mrs. Goldie Trammell and Mrs. Gladys Little of Cheyenne; Robert Cogburn of Strong City; Mrs. Flora Johnson of Elk City; and Sidney Cogburn of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and several grandchildren.

His brother, R. H. Horine, of Idalou, Texas, was at the funeral. Another brother, S. S. Cogburn of Whittier, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Nettie White of Carnegie, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Tom Crawford of Madera, California; also survive him, as well as numerous friends.

Mr. Cogburn was a worthy companion, a great father and one of Roger Mills county's most worthwhile citizens. He and his family have always offered a helping hand to his neighbors. He was a man who valued his friends and his life was rich in friendship.

He was a Christian gentleman.

Funeral services were conducted at Strong City Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m., July 26, 1943 by Rev. Ray W. Menard and Rev. Walker Ferguson.
