Fannie Sing Brown
© Cheyenne Star
10 October 1947
Submitted by: Wanda Purcell

Funeral services for Mrs. Billie Brown were conducted at the Baptist church in Strong City Tuesday afternoon in the presence of a large number of friends from Strong City and Cheyenne.

Conducting the services for the departed were Rev. Andrew Borum, pastor of the Strong City Baptist church and Rev. Brodace Elkins, pastor of the Methodist church of Cheyenne.

Mrs. Brown had been ill for the past two years and her condition had been critical during the past ten weeks, and although her death brought grief to the family it represented relief from many months of intense suffering.

Mrs. Fannie Sing Brown was born March 17, 1879 at Langtown, Mississippi, the daughter of John H. Sing, and departed this life October 6, 1947 at 1:30 p.m. in the Tisdal Hospital, Elk City, Oklahoma at the age of 68 years, six months, and 20 days.

She had been ill for the past two years.

Mrs. Brown was married July 2, 1897 to Billie Brown of Cheyenne and to this union were born four sons. Warren Othello preceded her in death in 1922 at the age of 5 months.

She had lived at her home near Strong City for the past 50 years, and was loved and respected in the community. She was a good mother and put the welfare of her children above everything else as far as this life was concerned.

She was a member of the Strong City Baptist Church and will be missed greatly by the membership. She had no fear of death and was submissive to the will of God, and greatly concerned for those of her loved ones and friends who did not know her Savior.

Mrs. Brown leaves to mourn her departure, her husband Billie Brown; three sons, Johnnie and Billie of Strong City; and Lance of Cheyenne; one brother, J. J. Sing of Cheyenne; three sisters, Mrs. Sallie Graham of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Matha Hay of Strong City; and Mrs. Willie Hall of Vancouver, Washington; and seven grandchildren besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Burial in Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
