William Thomas "Tom" Boswell

William Thomas "Tom" Boswell, 91, was born October 14, 1893 in Ryinze, Texas to William Thomas T. and Mary McCombs Boswell. He passed from this life Friday, August 23, 1985, in the Cheyenne Convalescent Home following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Boswell went to Hamburg community from Hobbs, New Mexico on horseback in 1917.

He was married November 22, 1923 to Rosetta Hensley in Sayre.

In February 1933 they moved to Strong City, then to north of Cheyenne in 1947 to make their home.

He was one of the few remaining veterans of World War I and a stockman/rancher, one of the "old timer cowboys."

Those who precede him in death were his parents, three sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Rosetta of the home; two daughters, Wanda Purcell of Cheyenne; Nelda Davis of Strong City; one son, Eldon Boswell of Cheyenne; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one sister, Jewell Kent of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Officiating at the funeral services conducted Sunday afternoon, August 25, 1982 at 3:00 p.m. were A. L. Martin and Aubrey Cowan with Nancy Cowan reading the poem "Cowboy's Prayer."

Internment followed in the Strong City Cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills county under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Arthur Trammell, Tom Davis, Jim Davis, Ronnie Jenkins, Mark Boswell and John Tom Boswell.
