Orville Alva Young, son of James Wilson Young and Amanda Jane Young was born at Carbondale, Kansas, May 29, 1877, and departed this life July 20, 1969 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma.
On March 27, 1911, he was united in marriage to Bessie McCain at Aransas Pass, Texas and to this union six children were born.
Orville came to Oklahoma and filed on land in the Pie Flat community in 1896.
He was an early day mail carrier and carried the mail from Streeter Post Office to Red Moon and later from Crawford to Cheyenne.
Survivors include one daughter, Mildred Love of Phillips, Texas; three sons, James of Okmulgee; Clair of Oklahoma City and Willard of Crawford; one brother, Claude of Crawford; and two sisters Nellie Thompson of Vale, Oregon; and Mildred Curry of Oakland, California; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Two children, Alice and Elmo preceded him having lived to adulthood.
Interment in Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
