Patricia Ann Wright Sprowls was born in Shattuck, OK on June 21, 1947 and died at her home on April 6, 2019.

Pat attended elementary school at Crawford, OK and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1965. She received her degree in English Education from SWOSU in 1969 and her Masters in Library and Information Science from OU in 1989. Pat married Danny Sprowls in January 24, 1969. Early in their marriage, Pat taught school and held various other jobs. After marrying, Pat and Danny lived mostly in Dallas and Houston, TX before they moved to Elk City in 1982. To their union, three children—BJ, Elise and Megan, were born. Pat worked at the Elk City Carnegie Library for 30 plus years and served as the Head Librarian since 1993. She and Danny finally retired in 2017. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January this year. Pat and Danny loved to travel and did two to three international trips each year in recent years. Both loved the time they got to spend with their children and with their grandchildren—Michael, Alice and Nena. Pat loved to entertain her family and friends. Pat was a doer; she had the gift of hospitality; a servant’s heart and she loved to stay busy. She loved people and was involved in so many organizations—her Church, choir and handbells; Board Member of Western Oklahoma Historical Society and past inductee into their Hall of Fame in 2005; past President of PEO, and Elk City Arts Council; active in Elk City Investment Club, Book Club, Chamber of Commerce, Master Gardeners, Library Associations, Bridge Club, Birthday Girls, etc. She was very knowledgeable about the history and heritage of western Oklahoma, and was very active in genealogy for her family and for others. She loved to give programs regarding trips taken and the history of Elk City. Pat leaves behind so many loved ones and special friends whose lives she touched. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Ardie Wright; brother, George Wright, and father and mother-in-law, Louis and Lois Sprowls.

She is survived by her husband, Danny; her children, BJ Sprowls of Cheyenne, OK, Elise and her husband, Corey Barrios, of Weatherford, OK, Megan and her husband, Matt Cogburn, of Wellston, OK; grandchildren, Michael Barrios, Alice and Nena Cogburn; her brother, Glen Wright and wife, Elaine of Springfield, OR; sister, Wanda Miller of McCook, NE; and sister, Sue Purcell of McKinney, TX; sisters-in-law, Dianne Savage of San Antonio, TX and Maxine Sprowls of Oklahoma City, OK, plus numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

In lieu of flowers to honor Pat, the family appreciates donations to Elk City United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the Cheyenne, OK Educational Foundation.
