Daniel Sadler, Jr. went  to his heavenly home on March 14, 2017.  His 91 years of life on this earth began on August 8, 1925, when he was born to Daniel and Ethel Sadler at Durham, OK.

He lived and worked along with his 12 brothers and sisters on the family farm in Durham and attended school at Crawford, OK.  At the age of 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed first in San Diego, CA.  He became a Machinist Mate, First Class on the troop transport ship, U.S. General John Pope.  He was very proud that he was able to serve his country during WWII.  His family enjoyed many, many stories of his adventures sailing the seas.  He was awarded the following medals during his service:  WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal.  He was discharged in 1946.

Dan returned to Oklahoma, and on April 22, 1948, he married the love of his life, Mable Ruth Myers.  Over the 68 year, 11 month span of their marriage, they have lived in Crawford, OK, Rockford, IL, Pampa, TX (where he worked at the Cabot Corp), Stratford, TX, (where he owned and operated the Sadler Service Station), and Cheyenne, OK (where he was partners with his son in the Sadler Service Center).  After retirement, they moved to Elk City. They raised four children and enjoyed golfing, fishing, kicking up their heels on the dance floor and traveling.  Sometimes they would get in the car, choose a highway and drive just to see where it would take them.

While living in Stratford, Dan accepted Jesus into his heart and was baptized.  His faith was important to him.  It was added to the values he instilled in his children of honesty, good work ethics and love of family.

They bought a second home at Foss Lake that became the place of many family gatherings for birthdays and holidays.  Children and grandchildren loved to be there and to go out on the lake on the pontoon to swim, fish and cruise around the lake.  Christmas in July on the lake was a favorite.  This was a place that created many family memories and stories to tell.

Another favorite pastime for Dan was building things such as shelves and benches.  If anyone needed something, he did his best to make it happen.  He also restored Round Oak wood stoves.  Many of those road trips involved auctions and places where he might find parts for a stove.  Each of his grandchildren have a stove lovingly restored by him.

The children blessed to be able to call him Dad are:  Katherine Sadler Lindley and husband, Pascal, of Noble, OK;  Sondra Sadler Allen and husband, Gary, of Elk City, OK;  Dennis Sadler and wife, Kathy, of Cheyenne, OK; and Betty Sadler Williams and husband, Gary, of Sayre, OK.  He was a proud PaPa of:
Pat Lindley, Shauna Sadler Chalfant, Christopher Sadler, Kaci Lindley Murray, Marka Sadler Atha, Tifaney Allen Wollert, Shea Whitson, Kayla Allen Bagheri, Cade Williams, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Along with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Dan is survived by his brother, Claude Sadler and wife, Georgia; two sisters, Thelma Baker and Zelma Widener; and two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Sadler and Ollie York, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Lee Sadler; six brothers and three sisters.

It brightened his day whenever he could see any of his family, but he especially loved seeing everyone together in the same place at the same time.  He was the cornerstone of a  family that he was extremely proud of, and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Veterans' Museum in Cheyenne, OK, or to your own favorite charity.
