D.A. Malson, 73, of Amarillo died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012.
 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Durham Church of Christ with Dolan Ivey and Chuck Milner officiating. Burial will be in Silent Home Cemetery in Roll, Okla. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
 

D.A. was born on Aug. 23, 1938, in Roger Mills County, Okla., to Doyle and Virginia Malson. He moved to Amarillo as a child, where he attended school and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1956. He then attended University Church of Christ in Canyon.
 

D.A. married Betty Battenfield on Sept. 2, 1955, in Amarillo. He was a contractor, building more than 300 fine homes throughout Amarillo. D.A. began his career in the construction field in high school, starting employment with Reid Strickland. He then worked for Lester Moffett Construction. He took great pride in the job that he did and was known to be a perfectionist in his projects. He was a member of The Texas Builders Association.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents.
 

Survivors include his wife, Betty Malson of Amarillo; a son, Matthew Doyle Malson and wife Tonya of Hickory, N.C.; a daughter, Denise Cranmer of Canyon; four grandchildren, Jason Cranmer of Canyon, Lindsey Bossy and husband Loren of Amarillo, Jacob Cranmer and wife Mandi of Gruver and Madison Malson of Hickory; a sister, Janice Malson of Amarillo; and three great-grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Bossy and Cole Cranmer.
 

The family suggests memorials be to John Hopkins, 707 N. Broadway, Baltimore, MD 21205, in care of Kim Hollandsworth Adrenoleukodystrophy Research for the Cole Wade Cranmer benefit research fund.


The family will receive guests from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the family home in Bishop Hills.
